Commissions

Although I have enjoyed doing many commissions in the past, my job as Director of the Jasper Arts Center no longer allows me enough time to commit to private commissions. Thank you for your interest.

I have been doing commission work for practically as long as I have been painting. Some artists dread commissions, but I actually enjoy them. I consider the paintings a challenge, plus I like to help the client interpret his or her idea into reality.

The price varies according to the commission and the subject matter. House portraits are the easiest and I have standard prices for them. People portraits are more difficult, mainly due to the many variables and the subject matter. Occasionally I'll have a client who has a particular scene or subject matter he wishes to have painted, in which case we'll come to an agreed price ahead of time. And then once in a while, I'll duplicate a painting, particularly the smaller ones. These are marked.
